Car Accident

Ok. After much thought I have decided to share on here about my car accident that I recently had. On 14 September, just 2 days after the Disney Trip, I flipped my car. Yes, you read it correctly... FLIPPED...

A car pulled out in front of me and I swerved so not to it him. In doing so my car aka Khloe went off the road. When I got back on the asphalt both drivers side tires popped and as the Khloe skidded diagonally across Harborview Rd, it felt as if my car were fishtailing. When she got to the other side of the road and hit the dirt she flipped/rolled. My seatbelt saved me and my never deployed. A family friend who I had just seen at the bank called my parents for me while a nurse who had ran across the street to check my vitals called my fiance for me and someone else called 911. I'm not sure how long it took emergency personnel to get to me though the firefighters got there rather quickly. I was about 2-3 blocks away from the ladder they came from. The firefighters had to unbuckle my seatbelt to get me out of Khloe and get me right side up (since I was upside down) before they put a collar on me and put me on a back board.

I was fine until I heard my mother. The moment I heard her voice I went from trying to not show how much I was scared shitless to "I want my mommy" in .0000000000000000001 seconds. After she saw me on the backboard she heard me say "oh God I'm scared". My fiance got to me in Med U's Trauma Bay before my mom did. All I wanted was Mom and my fiance because I knew Dad was taking care of everything about the car.

I cried from when I said I was scared on and off for the rest of the day.

My fiance left work when he found out (the nurse who called him for me held the phone up to my ear so I could talk to him and he could hear that I was trying to be brave). When he found out, he drove quite quickly from North Charleston to West Ashely to get his car, told work he had to go because I flipped my car and got to the hospital. He had to park on the 6th floor on the parking garage and said that the elevator was taking too long so he ran down 6 flights of stairs, across the street and into the hospital. They let him into where I was quickly I guess since he said he was my fiance and he was still in uniform (he's an emt) and also because I had just tried calling him. They asked me if I wanted my mom back with me and I answered yes before they could even finish. My mom couldn't find my Eeyore because she knew I'd want him so she brought me a stuffed animal bunny that my fiance had given me for our first Easter. I felt so cold in the hospital. Between the saline drip and the fact that my clothes were cut off me, it's no wonder. My fiance helped move me from my bed to the CT scan thing and back since he had just gotten there in time. At one point my fiance was holding my hand and i squeezed his so hard that my pulse oximeter messed up. So after that he sat at my head and my mom held my hand.

I was complaining of hip, neck, and back pain (all left side) so they gave me 50 mg of fetenol which is a painkiller stronger than morphine which kicked in while they took CT scans of my head, neck, abdomen and kip. The later two were taken with warmed radioactive dye injected through my iv so they could check all my organs more efficiently. By the time they said I could go I was starting to feel everything again so they gave me 6 mg of morphine making me so loopy. I was on loratab for any other pain for a week after the accident. 2 people I knew checked on me while I was at the hospital and one once I got home. The 2 that checked on me were a fellow choir member and another fellow choir member's husband. Both of which saw me after I had gotten both the fetenol and the morphine. The person who checked on me when I got home was one of my best friends. She came to see me when she got off from work. I've gotten better, I'm still shaken up pretty much though.

I was  sitting in the sun in the huge scrubs they gave me to wear home obviously doped up swollen from the accident (and crying and shock) hugging my bunny (better known as Rubix) when a guy commented on him. When I said my fiance gave him to me the guy said that he hoped my fiance had gotten the same type of hug from me and "God Bless you". I left before the Chaplin came to visit me but as luck would have it he's been visiting my church for the past month.

I received a blessing from the pastor at the church where I grew up the Saturday after the accident.

I got flowers and get well notes from 2 couples. One was from a co worker of my mothers (she works at the church I go to now) and said co worker's husband. They sent me an arrangement of daisies. The other couple were in a class with my fiance and myself. They sent me yellow gerber daisies (my favorite flower) and pink carnations. They sent me the flowers "to brighten up my day" and to "cheer me up". Both arrangements did just that.

More later. I'm just glad I'm ok.

This music video especially when you see the little girl saying "mommy" is how I felt. I thank God for the fact that all I walked away with was a mark from the seatbelt and a little soreness...

Disney

Ok it's about time I sat down and typed what I wrote down in my journal about our trip to see the Mouse and the Duck. It's itemized by day.

6 September

We arrived in Disney safe and sound. We ate at the Maya Grille at the hotel. Jason had steak and I had salmon.

7 September

Walked around Downtown Disney during the day and had lunch at Bongos. Bongos is owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan. It's a Cuban restaurant. We then went to Epcot and did the Nemo and Friends thing (aka The Living Seas) and Soarin. We ate dinner at the Coral Reef. It's inside The Living Seas. We sat right next to the giant aquarium and got to watch the fish. I had Lobster Ravioli with a Jack Daniels/Bailey's layered Mousse for dessert. Jason had baked grouper and scallops with a key lime mousse for dessert. Then we did Disney Quest at Downtown Disney. It's a 5 story arcade.

8 September

Animal Kingdom We did the entire park in 1 day. We rode The Expedition to Everest (3x), the Safari (2x), Kahli River Rapids (2x), and the Dinosaur ride in the area called Dinoland, USA. We also did the Bug's Life: It's Tough to be a Bug which is a 4D experience. We ate dinner at Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Jason had Tandori Lamb and I had Tandori Shrimp. We both had the Dessert Trio for dessert. The dessert Trio is Chocolate cake, Chai Creme, and Kulfi which is yogurt mixed mango and berry purees. The waiter gave us a complimentary champagne toast when he found out about our engagement. We were able to eat watching giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests walking past the windows.

9 September

Epcot had Extra Magic Hours so we were able to do the entire park (and it's big!!) in 14 hours. Rode Test Track, Mission to Mars and the rides in the World Showcase. Ate in Japan at Teppen Edo I had Chicken and Shrip and Jason had Chicken and steak. For dessert I had ginger cake and a pot of green tea while Jason had green tea custard. As a snack later on that night we had sweets from the caramel shop in Germany. I got a henna tattoo signifying "goal" in Morocco.

10 September

Disney Hollywood Studios (MGM) Got Eeyore and Tigger's autographs. Tigger looked at my ring and walked Jason away from me covering his eyes while Eeyore proposed to me. They teased us relentlessly. I then showed Jason the Villain Shoppe which has mostly items pertaining to Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. I introduced Jason to The Great American Movie Ride. We went on Start Tours 3 times and had 3 different stories. The second time, Jason was a Spy with the Rebel Alliance ("Keep him safe we must" as Yoda said). We went to the Muppets 3D twice because we both like it and I couldn't see the first time... As always someone tall sat in front of me the first time. We did the Pixar Toymania ride/game which was kinda fun. You ride and play games with a virtual shooter thing with the characters from Toy Story. We ate at the 50's Prime Time Dinner which is right near the brontosaurus ice cream place. Jason had steak, potatoes, and green beans with strawberry cheesecake for dessert. I had fried chicken, collards and massed potatoes with a boston cream parfait for dessert. The atmosphere was...interesting... We then saw Fantasmic. It was the only time I remember every seeing people dressed as characters from Pocohantas. I actually think it's a little too scary for little kids.

11 September

Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours Breakfast was eaten at the Crystal Pallace (a buffet) with the Pooh Characters. Got Pooh and Piglet's autographs as well as a kiss on the forehead from Piglet (or "Pig" as I said when I was really little) and a nuzzle and trounce from T-I-Double Guh- ERRR. We went around the park going through the different sections. Adventure Land We went on the Jungle Cruise, The Tikki Room and The Pirates of the Caribbean (2x). Frontier Land We went to Tom Sawyer (and Huck Finn) Island on Thunder Mountain twice and Splash Mountain. Liberty Square We went to The Hall of Presidents where they had something special for the day and the Haunted Mansion. Fantasy Land  We went of Prince Charming's Carousel (Jason's first time ever on one). We also went on the Pooh Bear ride. I actually got Jason to go on It's a Small World. It took some effort but I got him on it. We also went to see the 4d show called Mickey's Philharmonic.  Tomorrow Land  We went on Space Mountain twice, Stich's Great Escape, Buzz Lightyear's Galaxy Quest and saw the Monster's Inc Laugh Lab. The Buzz Lightyear thing was us fighting Zurg and we were "shooting" him with our very own lasers. We ate dinner at Tony's Italian Restaurant  which is based on Tony's in Lady and the Tramp. Jason had the Chicken Parmesan and I had the Seafood Diavolo (with clams, mussels, shrimp, and calamari over angel hair pasta with a spicy marinara sauce). I had a cappuccino which was amazing. For dessert we both had Tirimisu (the waiter said it was definitely love after Jason ordered what I did for dessert) and our waiter comped us an ice cream sundae made with homemade rich ice cream. The fireworks were amazing that night. We watched them from Tomorrow Land. I was so happy to have finally had a chance to go on Splash Mountain because in doing so I completed the Disney Mountain Range (Splash, Thunder, and Space Mountains at Magic Kingdom and the new addition of Everest at Animal Kingdom).

12 September

We got home in one piece!!
